Nerw slave 3TB HDD

I just replaced my 2TB slave HDD with a new 3TB, and it doesn't show up when I boot windows....any ideas? It was a simple swap, and re-attach of cables?
Is there any reason why my mobo may not recognise it?

 

Just because it isn't seen in windows doesn't mean your mobo doesn't recognise it,enter bios, go to standard cmos features and check to see if the drive is recognized and listed correctly.

If it's recognised in bios start windows and go to control panel,admin tools,computer management,disk management,it will be listed with the space as raw.

Now right click the raw drive, format and mark as active,it should now show in my computer.

Don't want to start a new thread....can I add a 3rd HDD?
There is a 4th SATA socket on mobo?
Do i just need a cable?
Power - there is a spare near the optical drive, likely for a 2nd CD or DVD, will this power an HDD?

 

Yes if there's a spare sata socket you can add another drive,if the power connector is a sata power connector you can connect it directly, if it's a molex you'll need a molex to sata adapter.

The extra power it draws is negligible.
