Netgear WG111T disconnecting error

I've had the Netgear WG111T for about 18 months, it started off fine before randomly disconnecting a few times here and there. Gradually over the last 6 months it's got a hell of a lot worse, I even use a fan to cool it and seems to give it about 20 minutes of life each time before having to manually disconnect it and reconnect.

I've read the netgear support forums and it seems like everyone with my model is having the problem, does anyone here know of any cure of will I be best off trying my hand at a different brand? If so, can anyone recommend me a cheap (not bottom of the range but not expensive) and efficient USB Adapter?

I went through two of these with the same sort of problems before giving up entirely on netgear.

I then got one of these which was plagued by similar problems.
In the end I ran a LAN cable as it was for my desktop

It probably doesn't help you that much, but at least you know what not to get?
