Everyone should contact Netscape and ask them to stop the Cowboy Text Messaging Ad that blocks the news stories. Click on a story, then try to read the details and see what happens.

I no see any Cowboys Text Messaging at Netscape, maybe the Indians in Internet Explorer removed them?

and in a non-discriminatory way I also used Opera, Firefox and Flock, only thing I did notice was in all browsers apart from Flock was a dropdown advert called "Whats on" but it did only apear once and didnt obscure the news stories.

OR just dont use Netscape for your news stories, their are plenty of news websites around much better than NS, the choice is yours, IF I dont like something I just done use or watch it...... plenty more alternatives around, some I do use,

Been using netscape for years and I love it. I don't know why your getting any text message ad though. Might just want to delete your cookies and empty your cache and see if it makes a difference. What version of netscape you using? I use 7.2 and all is working fine.

This seems to be a new phenonenom. Another came up on Netscape this time for a new Netscape product. It appeared right over the search box to keep the user from searching until he read the ad. The fequency seems to be about one per day. Then the same type of thing occurred for streaming audio for a radio station. They're fund raising drive ad appeared right over the search box. There not reallly pop ups. As I said the frequency seems to be low, probably just at the users toleration level. I'll get a screenshot next time.

It may be something new with no choices, or it may be an "opt in" thing during the install that you didn't notice. Check your preferences in the browser, and make sure there's no option for notices from Netscape; if there is, uncheck it. If that doesn't work, totally uninstall it, reinstall it, and during the re-install, make sure there are no boxes checked allowing them to "send you important notices" or anything like that. Seems like EVERYTHING today wants to send you notices, toolbars, spam, and all other sorts of junk. Most of the reputable stuff allows you to UNcheck before installing, but watch your installs carefully, and ALWAYS choose custom install instead of the default install if you're given that option. Frequently you only get to choose during a custom install. Hope that helps some.
