Every once in a while I have some pretty heavy network activity going in and out of my computer. I'd like to know if there's a program that could tell me either what program is requesting this activity or what site the activity is coming from (or to).

I hae an XP machine connected to a router that's connected to broadband.

Well try looking here, I am sure that you will find something you can use, also be sure to check that you have killed the bandwidth that MS have reserved to "spy" on you, I found it on tweakwinxp.com, you can try it see if it helps, click here

    Im sure there are many.

I have Mcafee 7.0 virus scan/firewall (run only when I want to) it also has ability to trac all incomming and out going traffic
It also has feature Called visual trace: you can trace traffic, then it will provide you with thier IP address, name ,address, etc sometimes phone #
    Mcafee very user friendly

I too have xp, router set to stealth mode, and broadband conection.

Do you have Windows Automatic Updates enabled? Any other software with automatic background updates?
