Network adapter troubles

I checked the other similar threads presented, not the same. I have an Asus mobo A7N8X with built in nVidia network adaptor. After a hardware crash, I replaced HD with new one, loaded XP Home, SP2, & SP3. Tried to use internet with no success. Troubleshooting Start | Control Panel | System | Device Manager, I have a listing of 'Other devices', Ethernet Controller, Multimedia Audio Controller, and SM Bs Controller, all preceeded by a big yellow question mark.

What is causing this and how do I fix it?

I've tried everything I can think of, and after much research.

Help!

 

The yellow "?" indicates that Windows does not have a driver in its preloaded files for that device.

The easiest way to fix this is going to the ASUS support site, searching "A7N8X" and downloading all drivers for the board to a USB flash drive. This will insure you get the most up-to-date driver for each device. Before downloading, be sure the drivers you choose are for the correct (XP Home) version of Windows.

Yellow marks at Ethernet Controller, Multimedia Audio Controller, and SMBs Controller means you need the chipset driver.

According to the specs you have:

Chipset
North Bridge: NVIDIA® nForce2 SPP
South Bridge: NVIDIA® nForce2 MCP

You can get the chipset driver here. The chipset driver on Asus's website is dated 2003
