Below are the error messages I get (or got) prior to uninstalling and reinstalling my network drivers.

Dell Wireless WLAN Card Wireless Network Controller has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
    Error signature
    szAppName : BCMWLTRY.EXE szAppVer : 3.100.41.0 szModName : kernel32.dll
    szModVer : 5.1.2600.5781 offset : 00012afb
    Error Report
    C:\DOCUME~1\Debbie\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERa12e.dir00\BCMWLTRY.EXE.mdmp
    C:\DOCUME~1\Debbie\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERa12e.dir00\appcompat.txt

I ran all the malware programs in the XP Windows cleaning procdure; conferred with the malware forum, nothing was fould, and they have referred me to this software forum.

I have read all of the other posts about this type of problem and performed most of the standard repairs as stated above.

I still have nothing in my Network Connections window AND when I go into manage my divice drivers, I cannot get properties for any of the drivers at all.

    Something screwy is going on.

I have included the following two lines from a hijackthis log because the second line has "Unknown owner" and this concerns me. I don't know if either shoud be there at all.

    O23 - Service: NICCONFIGSVC - Dell Inc. - C:\Program Files\Dell\NICCONFIGSVC\NICCONFIGSVC.exe
O23 - Service: Dell Wireless WLAN Tray Service (wltrysvc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\wltrysvc.exe

    Any ideas?

Go to Dell's support page, enter the service code for the PC, download the network drivers (wired and wi-fi) to a CD or USB stick and reinstall them.

If the drivers still don't show in Hardware Manager, you might want to consider downloading Microsoft's PC transfer wizard to back up your desktop/settings and doing a complete reinstall of Windows (you'll need to do this from either the restore partition or the Dell recovery CD; the license code won't reactivate using a "retail" version of XP). If you use the PC transfer wizard, be sure to do a full scan with Malware Bytes immediately after restoring the files and settings.

My personal experience has been that - once XP becomes corrupted - it is hard if not impossible to repair it. Ultimately, wiping the drive and reinstalling should be less time consuming and give better results.

    Hope this helps. :)

Thanks for the info, it's much appreciated. I'll see what I can do.
