Network logon problem

We have a LAN with our email hosted through a POP3 account. I went to log on yesterday and it seems that I lost my profile. It now treats my log on username and password as if I am a guest and will not let me start up Outlook or retrieve my desktop. I am a local administrator on my machine. Is there anyway that the logon profile was corrupted? Will I be able to get it back?

 

Is this a problem with your email account or with your actual computer?

Can you connect to your email from another computer?

 

if you go into c:\documents and settings, does it show your profile in there?

 

I found my profile, but it seems to have created a second profile that supercedes mine. I am trying to get it back to being the default. The good news is that it looks like all my information is still there.

 

Is this PC on a domain? Did you get a new profile that has a '.domain' in the name?
Try:
/hkey_local machine/software/microsoft/windows nt/current version/ profile list/ s-1-5-18

After you navigate to the profile list sub directory, you will see a list of profiles.
Highlight each one of them until you find one that has the users id with the .domain extension
Highlight that folder, on the left and edit that value on the right - delete the domain name ie: Profile Image Path %systemdrive%/Docs&Settings/your porfile name.domain.com
Log off and log back in. ( or either a reboot)
