Network Mapping

Greetings,
My supervisor ask me to create a network map of our office. I have never done this before and would like to know if there are any tool out there that i can read or download to help me get this task done with accurate info. I have heard of Visio, but it is a memory hog. Is there any other tool i can use?

I do not know what memory hog means related to such an application. Visio is Not an On Line game it is an Office Application.

You use Visio Pro to get the network map, you done and close it.

So what is the problem?

 

Well i never tried personally, I was told by a friend that it Hogs alot of memory. There isn't a problem at all just thought there might be another tool to use . Have you ever heard of LanSurvey?

 

Yeah this is one of the common cliché that are used by people when they usually are not capable to say anything functional about software issues.

I hope that you know that Visio is a Professional Drawing program thta is capable to detect the make up of the Network that it is on and produce a Map of the Network.

LAN SURVEY is a Network Auditing program its main function is totally different than Visio.

Both Visio and LAN survey cost hundreds of $$$, making a decision which one to purchase and use is a business professional matter beyond the scope of a public BBS, if this is part of your Job you should consider additional education.

Will Microsoft Office Visio perform the same function as the full version of visio pro?

 

You need Visio Pro to Darw Network.

There are few version of MS Office I am not sure which one comes with Visio Pro. I have the Enterprise version and Visio Pro is included.
