Is there a player out there designed to cache files in a playlist locally on a machine before playing when the files are stored on another pc?

Network traffic isn't a problem as there are only 2 pcs connected. the files do play with the network share mapped to a drive letter but there are 1/2 second gaps every few tracks or so.

it takes me about 10 seconds to copy the file to my desktop and will play fine from there but because the storage on this second machine is very low i cannot keep all the files i want to play locally at once.

I currently have several media files being hosted on my main pc, running MS Windows XP. It is connected to another low end pc also running XP.

You can make a playlist which reffers to the files on a network resource (i.e. \\Server\Music\) which should play the file from that location without the need to copy.

In fact, ive just done this myself to free up room on my HD for a new game which should be coming soon, and I assure you it works ;)
Or, you could set up a shoutcast server on the server machine, and connect to it with another player on the other machine.
