HAve a Belkin ADSL Modem/WIFI capable. Two PCs cabled to it and a laptop. The PCs acces the network fine, the laptop used to. Cannot now get laptop on internet either by cable or WIFI.

Have able to PING the Belkin modem/wifi router from the PC. LAptop does pickup wireless signal. However when trying to use Internet explorer never seem to get any dns resolution.

Have tried cleaning up the PC (belongs to my son). Have downloaded Adaware, SpBot, CWShredder as suggested on major geeks.

Have also been trying to change the internet connection settings in IEXPLORER however when trying to apply them and exit IE (to make sure they have taken) always get a GPF relating to SHDOCVW.DLL.

Not really sure where to go from here. A friend has offered to help with a fresh install of XP etc. Dont really want to go down that route if it can be avoided.

Would really appreciate some advice & help. Have a HijackThis installed so can provided logfile if required.

When you bring up a command window (click on start, then Run, then type cmd), and type ipconfig/all to bring up all running network connections. It is possible that the Winsock, got corrupted if the machne was infected really bad.
