Can I please get some help with networking between 2 computers on Windows 7, both running Win 7.

    Details:
My computer is named: ‘Ben’ and the other is named ‘Liz’
We are on a basic Bigpond router/modem with Ethernet and wireless connections (we are connected via Ethernet).

I can see Liz on the network, so I click on it and it brings up a window asking for a username and password.

What username and password do I use here?

edit: It's got something to do with Windows Credentials.

Computer Liz is asking for one of Liz's user/passwords.

In the sharing setup you would have also had to have told Liz's computer who has permissions and added that user or you set the permissions to Everyone.

If both computers run Win 7 you can use the special HomeGroup configuration.

    Maybe this can Help.

    Hey bennos,

go to Liz's computer and click on the Start button.
Notate the current logged in username.
go to the control panel/user accounts.
Create a password for the current logged in username.
    Go to Ben's computer.
At the login prompt, type in the computer name Liz and the username that is logged on to the Liz pc.

    like this...

    liz\username

    type in the password

Add a check to the Remember my credentials checkbox.

    Click Ok.
