Networking with xp and win 98 SE

Hi I have read through almost this chapter and it make me more confuse to read further. I am having XP and win 98 SE in which I would like to share files and printer.I am using adsl router modem, and also EZ Link usb adaptor for getting to ME in my other hdd,in my xp machine (pri. hdd and xp sec.slave) it work with ME connecting to 98SE,as this EZ Link is mean for 98 I could not connect to xp,however I have downloaded a driver for it (Net link 1.8 which is for xp to work) I could not get the networking to work. I tried the wizard but it always comes up error in configuring popup. I hope someone will please show me how to setup with net link which I have download. For your information I have search the web site for installing networking topics but not successful in making it work.My last resort is to seek help here. Thanks

Thanks cat5e the first link you have given has alot of useful information in a way I am lost to what to do. I did downloaded a few app, like proxy,simple server but have not install it yet. I do hope you can recommend which is suitable for me to use and easy setup I am a novice to this networking. In the site where it show the usb link unit as I said I have one by the name of EZ Link usb adapter but unfortunately it would not work with XP, I wonder anyone have used this model and get it to work with XP,glad to hear from you all. One of the reasons for the difficulties is that you are attempting to create a Network in a very uncommon way. I.e. your usage of the EZ Links.

The Ez Links solution is a quick method to transfer files between two computers, it is not a good method to share Internet or to create a Network.

You can not find precise info on how to use it because it is rare that someone will do it this way.

The prevalent solution is to install Network cards in each computer and Share Internet and Network as described in the links that I posted above.

If for some reason you do not want to open your computers and install Network cards you can use adaptors that plugs into the USB port and make it into common Ethernet.

Thanks cat5e I agreed that it is not a good way of sharing a network,I need only to share my files and printer with xp and win 98. Using this model as I mention it can share with ME,but not xp that is why I download the netlink 1.8 driver for xp to work but I could not configured it to function.(earlier it was working with this new driver,due to virus or something I run pc bug to clean it, I am not sure whether it was the cause). If you have any suggestion to overcome it or anyway in which I could see the win 98 in workgroup in xp will be much appreaciate. I tried all I could but still not successful in setting the network between this computers. Thanks.
