Never tried this, so I'm gonna ask first.

Pulled some files off some IDE hard drives and a laptop. I was given the laptop since they had no use for it. My question is can I run DBAN on the IDE drives while they are plugged into the laptop via a hard drive adapter cable?
    If so how?
    Thanks,

I've used DBAN on SATA, IDE, and USB - even USB to IDE adapters.
Might need to try an older version sometimes the latest version doesn't always detect drives.

Don't go prior to version 1.0.7 though with DBAN. I made a rather costly error with DBAN version 1.0.6 which picked up my BIOS as a physical drive!

I tried it and it showed the drive that was plugged in via the HD adapter, let it run it popped up with "Kernel panic not syncing: Out of Memory and no killable processes". Did some googling and ran it as "autonuke" which did both HD at once.
I had to leave so I left it go, but the power got cut to it, faulty wire in the power cable, and when I plugged them both into my machine neither show up after drivers were installed.
Did I trash the drives when the power was cut?
