new 5.1=0.0?

I just went out and picked up a Creative SBS580 set to replace my generic DCT Factory set... When I hooked up the Creative set, I got NO SOUND!!!

It powers on, the green light is on on the speaker, when I hit the button on the right front remote to turn it off, I get the thump from the sub power cut....


I touched the ends on the three connectors that run to the PC with the volume all of the way up to get some feedback with no avail. maybe the plugs are bad???

I can exchange them, but I want to know if I did something wrong...

 

onboard sound or sound card?

did you try the other speakers again to see if its the new speakers that are messed up?

 

yup, anything else I plug into it works... I tried to even connect each cable one at a time in my CD player with no avail

 

1.) What is your sound card?
2.) Do you have each of the satellite speakers connected to your sub?
3.) Is your sub turned on? I saw on the pic on new egg that there is a volume nob on the back of the sub. Maybe turning that up will turn it on and help.

I have the logitech z-5500's and each of the satellite speakers hook into the sub, which then needs to be on before any sound will register.

 

it was a dead controlling speaker.... the right front speaker was faulty... I hooked the one we have at work up to it and it all worked, so I got a new set
