   I have an Acer Aspire 3690 notebook . I am replacing the battery with a Rayovac raycl7506d. When I power up the notebook an error for "This is not a Acer battery please check your battery and try again". I verified that it is the correct replacement battery. Is there a way around the proprietary restrictions for this computer? Or a different battery? Acer is out of stock.

   I would not mess around and return the battery and wait for Acer to get the battery in stock or check other sources for Acer brand batteries;
