Default New build or keep the current one?
I had my hp a400n for a little over 4 years and I am getting tired of it plus I just want something a little more responsive and better video card
    Here its current specs.
    # Intel 2.7GHz Celeron Processor
    # 768MB PC2100 DDR Memory
    # 80GB Hard Drive
Intel Extreme 3D Graphics with 64MB of Shared Video Memory
Processor looks to be fast but I am just starting out in a computer field so maybe someone can help
Can some of the components be swapped or just let me know
My budget is really tight but not too low

i'd say just put more into it. but that's my own opinion, and i'm sure others will have their own idea (or know more). i'd look up your comp (or motherboard), and see how much you can max out your ram (or at least add another gig or two). you can get an external h/d for cheap, or maybe add another internal h/d? now, i'm not really sure about your video card, i'm sure someone will come around.

what do you exactly mean about this? is it slower than before, or you've just worked with faster comps? oh, and what all do you use your comp for (ie- playing video games, browsing, etc) - sos

If you upgraded the RAM to 2gb (approx $80-$100), added better video card (you're using on board video now), and a bigger hard drive (unless your current drive is less than half full), that would be a great start. It really depends on what you use the PC for. The specs you have are enough that the PC should be pretty snappy for general use. If it's slow, it's probably not a hardware issue, you may just need some tuning up and cleaning.... if you are gaming, or are planning to start some serious gaming, then a new build may be a good idea.
