I just put in a new foxconn motherboard into a new case with new power supply and new ram however I used the old 20 gig hard drive and it works for a day then shuts down I figure it is the drive messing up would that be about right?

    I wouldn't say it's impossible, but I don't think it's very likely.

Random shutdowns are most often caused by overheating (did you seat the CPU heat sink correctly, with thermal paste between it and the CPU die?) and by driver conflicts (try updating).
