new builds no audio

I have 2 new builds with no audio :cry

The motherboards are Asus M2A-VM, running XP (sp3) did all the updates
checked the BIOS, audio is enabled. The PC says there is no mixer, and one says there is no audio devise.

All the games we tried to load stop and say there is no audio installed.

HELP please!! My kids are really upset and I am getting frustrated

What else do you need to know?

I tried but got an error message:
Install Realtek HD Audio driver Failure

I went to add/remove programs unistalled it and tried again and got the same message.

I did notice 2 other realtek titles there;

Realtek GbE &FE Ethernet PCI-E NIC driver
Realtek AC'97 Audio

Are those conficting or do they need removed first as well?

I am so confused!

Firstly Do you see any exclamation marks in device manager\sound and vision.If so uninstall the AC97 then go here and DL\Install if if you are running the appropriate Operating System Windows\98\Me\XP\2000
