Finally my old man has agreed to get a computer built, since he doesn't like Dell or HP, but is (was) so set on having a pre-built system by a name brand.

    Anyways, here are the specs.
He basically needs it only for 2-D stuff, surfing, ticker symbol (stocks) with dual monitors

Here's what one person recommended and it sounds pretty good.

    Silverstone 750Watt Strider - Modular

    nVidia nForce 680I - SLI

    Zalman CNPS7000B-ALCU LED

    2GB Corsair TwinX 8500C5

    nVidia GeForce 7600 GT 256MB

    Integrated On-Board Audio

    No Raid

    Western Digital 250GB 16MB Cache SATA 2

    Burner DVD-ROM

    for the CPU it's either

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4 GHz (1066MHz) 4MB L2 CacheSocket 775 Processor

    OR

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 2.66 GHz (1066MHz) 4MB L2 Cache Socket 775 Processor

The price difference between the 2 is $200 plus.
I was told to get the 6600 over the 6700.
Is there THAT big of a speed difference in the two?
I was also just suggested that the 6400 would be more than sufficient.

Recommendations, changes to this build, thanks.:) :) :)

What would you (guys) recommend for a non-SLI motherboard?
He's not going to use SLI ever, so I figure maybe save a $ in that area perhaps?
    Thanks.

Well, most of the new motherboards that support the LGA 775 Chipset for the Core 2 Duo's, happen to be SLi boards. There are literally hundreds of motherboards that could work, the one you have is good choice, it is great for any upgrading that he may want to do later.

As for the processor, the E6600 is a great choice, not too slow, not too fast. You could get a little cheaper of a video card, but that's up to you.

eh...thats a great system but total overkill for what he's gonna do with it.

definitely get the e6400, its a great proc that will be more than enough for a while

the video card is fine since you're gonna be running dual monitors

everything else is good but, like u said, the mobo is a bit over the top as well. any ASUS board is great

Why does he need that big of a PSU if that's all he's gonna be doing? Also, the CPU seems overkill, as does 2GB of RAM unless you're putting Vista on it, but you didn't specify. With XP, 1GB is plenty.

The stuff you recommended is good, but is way more than needed for what you suggested...
