No, but congratulations, that's a nice gift, unless there's something very expensive wrong with it. :)

im not sure. it needs a new soft top, which will run me about $400.00. hasn't been used in a while, but drove to my house (30mls) no prob. needs a new front passenger side light cover. inside is clean (well motor jargon clean, pretty yucky on your average housewife scale). deep scrape on front passenger corner. paint looks faded as does the black trim, but this is the sunshine state, (or should be). found it difficult, but not impossible, to put the top down and then back up. not sure if it has hydrolics or what. its red. :)

the best thing to do for faded trim is to get tire shine... itll look black again...

sez nothing about it in the book, (but the book i hae is a chilton) and i cant find a switch. i looked on line, but cant find any info. i think 95 may have been when they first started power assisted tops, so maybe mine is early '95. it FELT like it had hydrolics though, if you know what i mean. i felt that i was pushing against resistance, and the top s-l-ow-l-y kind of lowered itself. Up was even harder.

laurie, did you lower and raise the top manually? If that is a factory top on that car it has a switch on the console near the park brake handle between the front seats. The park brake has to be applied for the roof to operate, the park brake light on the dash has to be lit.

Very nice gift Laurie. Even if you have to spend a few hundred dollars on it, it's still going to be a good deal. And we all know red goes faster, LoL!;)

Yep, tyre black or that upholstery restorer on the soft top. A cut and polish on the paint job. If the hood has those hydraulic pistons for raising and lowering, sometimes you can get away with just greasing the inner piston a bit with petroleum jelly, and raise and lower a few times. I dunno, it worked for me a few times, anyway.

Enjoy your blonde in sports car syndrome, heh. ;)

yes we did. lol. will look for switch as soon as i can brave the big outdoors.. thankyou for the info. :)

@ big bazza, will do, as soon as...

we are having 'weather'. more rain than you can shake a stick at. lol. one of the dams on kauaii has broke, and several more accross the state are threatening to do the same. there is sheet rain thundering off my roof. good time to get a convertible. lol

i was also given a cream leather sofa. spent all day cleaning it, (it was filthy and had to be cleaned inch by inch with a nailbrush!!) looks cool now, but i immediately covered it up with a blanket to stop it getting dirty again. lol. its a good job the weather is so bad as i have blisters on my hands from the scrubbing, and i so want to detail the car.

much aloha from a damp but happy laurie.

OMG. just dashed outside during a more quiet bit in the downpour, to see if i could see the top up/down button, and there it was. right where you said it would be. lol. we looked all over for a button for the top, and decided there wasn't one. as cool as it sounds, a convertible that takes 5mins to get up or down is of no use in a state where the weather changes drastically every ten miles or so. if all i have to do is pull over and push a button than i'm definately gonna keep it. (the really sensible thing to do would be to tart it up and sell it quick)

and...we just tested it, and yes! the top goes up, AND the top goes down. :) thank-you once again sibeer.

That's good laurie. I was thinking about whether the manual attempt would have wrecked anything. I guess they must design them somewhat to be able to put the top up if you lose power. Glad to be of help.

how did you know where the switch was? have you had one of these? weather is beautiful today, so i am spending the day car cleaning. (jacob is on spring break so he can help, much to his disgust.) i am putting the BMW 5-something (that doesn't work) up for sale. also the BMW 3-something (that we bought for spares, but cant work out whats wrong with the first one in order to know what to replace). as soon as i can get a new roof and headlight cover, i will sell the nisson, which i hate! difficult to explain as to why, its kinda everything, no room, no power, hard to steer, or at least not 'fluid' to steer..., but runs like a dream!!!! anyway off i go to get covered in soapsuds, for all you wet tee-shirt enthusiasts. :)

I'm a Ford tech. I've never owned one, but I did have an '81 Capri T-roof. It was identical to the Mustang in those years, but had the Mercury badge. Oh, we'll need the sudsy wet tshirt pics also, as well as the pics of the car.

:) I'll see what i can do :) I'm suffering a bit. we got given a cream leather sofa as well and i scrubbed it with a nail brush. i have put blisters on my poor little hands. then cleaned and detailed the two beamers ready for sale. so the blisters are all broken and weeping sores now. so thats it for washing cars until i can put my hands in soapy water without going 'ouch!'. good to know you are a ford tech though :)

both the beamers are '86. there is some wierd electical prob with one of them. and of course they are horrendously exspensive to get parts for.

Hell yeah! I had a '78 320i. There was one place that I could go to for parts, and that was like sixty miles a way, and they were an arm and a leg. Then I discovered junk yards! You can get part for like $5, and if they don't work, what the hell, it was only $5.
