Hello all my new friend got a computer and i as a novice comp tech with minimal experience am trying to save him money settign him up.I already got a few of the problems narrowed down but i lack alot of experience with newer cases and cases that are modded.now when i turn in his comp not only do i not hear his CPU peek out but i hear this darn rinings sound over and over , well more of a beep heh.but i wanted to know if anyone with a new case understands this , also there is al ight up towards the top to the nw of his ram slots and it also stays a steady red if that helps , hes lackign a few wires but i doubt that haves anythign to do with the beep or does it ?.im thinking after i get his monitor to recoginize his actual comp that alone will show a bit but im hoping its a small problem such as something im overlooking or maybe just his MB is too tight to the case i didn't open it yet cuz i want the 1st problem , akak the monitor to show what happens but the non peeking of the cpu has me scared , he got it cheap but in the same respects its a well made comp , not a comcrap lol. Thanks PZC

Well, I'm no computer whiz either, but I may be able to help with one of your problems. That 'beeping' sound, is that when you first start up the machine, or is it constant even when the machine is fully booted? Normally, when you first start up a computer, you'll hear one beep, which is usually a good indication that everything is working as it should. If there is more than one beep, check the manual for your motherboard to determine what those beeps mean. That way you'll at least know what's causing the beeps and be able to fix it. If you have no manual, go to the manufactures site and do a search there. I doubt that your case, modded or not, would be the cause of your beeps. Also, you said he was 'lacking a few wires'....what wires is he lacking? That could also be a probable cause for your 'malfunctions!' It's weird, but computers seem to run alot better when all the cables are connected!!!!

The beeping is your mobo POSTing. Different combinations of beeps mean different problems (a handy fail safe for when you cant get into the BIOS) look at the Mobo manual and listen to the beeps - it should locate the problem. Once you have done that (and if you cant figure out why that particular problem is actually a problem) post what the mobo says is wrong.

My Abit NF7 has little LEDS that display a code instead of the beeps - a nice little feature, especially when I overclock her and she conks!
