New Computer!

Hi everyone!

I’d like some opinions, suggestions.. etc on my current and soon to be new computer! I moved over a year ago from Ireland so this will be my first real gaming machine since I got here.

The items listed in bold I’ve already purchased and have at home, the remaining items I intend to get. I haven’t selected a case, PSU, monitor or anything other than the below, ideas are welcome! Please keep in mind I’m building a budget – mid range machine and I don’t need or can afford the biggest and best of everything!

I’d really appericate ideas on memory for the Intel 975X MB, I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about compatibility?

Just a tip when you buy the PSU make sure its sli compatable if you intend to use sli in the future. What are you planning on for the OS?

 

I may go the SLi route in a few months if I can pickup another card maybe on eBay or somewhere, thanks for the reminder on the PSU. I don't know yet which OS to go for, I have XP and Vista B2 running dual boot at the minute. Which is sort of funny, it's running on my wife's "overclocked" emachine LOL !Still haven't made up my mind if I should buy Vista before the Beta runs out.

When I think about OS change I'm thinking I may wait for 6 - 12 months before switching to Vista. Give em time to run through the future bugs, worms and everything else that will come to cause many a crash. I will install SUSE again in a VM once all is up and running.

 

Anyone out there with any info when it comes to the memory with the board I'm going to use? I'm trying to avoid forking out close to $200 for something I'll have to RMA.
