new computer

    hi all - I have been given a new computer and would like to put everything from my old computer on my new computer but I really don't wanna reinstall all my programs. I have backed up the puter on an external drive. Can I just restore to the new computer and have it all????

    Depends on how you've backed up the old computer.

    If you've imaged it, then you might be okay. We can help you there. Post back to confirm/deny. You will need to backup everything you want to keep from the NEW computer, however.

    If you've simply copied files to your external drive, then you will need to reinstall everything.

    I did a complete backup and it also made a automatic restore disk
