Just got a new Dell XPS 8700 desktop, just wondering, the machine seems pretty slow, will it speed up when the cookies for each program is installed? T.I.A.

Cookies are installed by websites, not programs.
Have a look at the startup items.

That's a fast machine, it should be flying. What software have you been installing, and what OS does it have, 8.1 or 10? Is this instead of upgrading your other machine you asked about?

Microsoft demands that OEM's ship the systems at a level that is available on DVD. Even Windows 10 has a MAJOR update which was released in October and the PC will be sluggish until after it has done so AND you reboot. Windows 8.1 has almost two years of updates and the same applies.
As a note; though, XPS 8700 is like saying Ford Focus which is available with at least two engines and over $15,000 in options. The 8700 can come with 20+ different processors, a little or lots of ram, and a plethora of video cards.

Dell XPS? Not in my world! I have to work on those things and I hate them. But that being said, every new PC comes loaded with pure CRAP, even spyware and viruses.
Maybe running the "Decrapifier" would help! ???
Go into "Programs & features" and UN-Install every program you don't want or need.
Then look into the "Task Manager" and disable everything you don't need to have running all the time.
And if you have Windows 10, you need to get on over to the Windows 10 forum and learn how to fix the security holes in the OS.

With every new OS, from Microsoft, the proper setup gets longer and more complicated. The setup on Windows 10 takes twice as long as it did on Windows 8.1.

    Good Luck, and Happy Holidays!

    Thanks, it has Win 8.1
Thanks Shadow, Is Dell really that bad? I have decrapified it and it is running much better. Do you feel upgrading to Win.10 is a good/bad idea?
