New CyberDVD player

I bought a new computer, recently. I'm not in IT, so I had to rely on the salesman for some advise. I decided on Acer, but the model I bought was lacking a Bluray player. I was going to by the Samsung, but the salesman talked me into buying the ASUS because he said it can write titles on anything I burn(on the top of the disc). So, I get home:

1. Can't play bluray w/o buying software
2. Can't figure out how to make it write on the top of the disc
3. Everytime I turn my computer on a bunch of pop-ups come up for cyberdvd, register, powerdvd,

It's driving me crazy, and I am not happy I have to spend even MORE money for extra software!

Any tips from the computer gods?

 

I don't mind buying software . I know the R&D is expensive. It's the fact of the matter that the salesman sold me wrong. GM of store said bring it bqack and he will swap me out for any other one, but I really dont feel like driving 20 miles w/o a/c in my car in Phoenix AZ, unless I have to.
