    New computer , just a bit over 30 days old. has windows 10 on a 64 bit Inspiron 5558 when they asked to activate Contana? this thing started popping up in the back ground Playthru player and I can't get the printer to print 5x7 photos , I don't know if the two are related but this morning some auto thing came on to call Microsoft and I did then they wanted $350 to clean up my brand new computer . I have ATT service which gives me free Mcfee But the whole thing seems very suspicious this fellow says I need level 3 help and a infection sweep with adware removal , repair of all systems malfunction and a full system tune up and the addition of realtime system proactive software and they will give me a deal for $250. I have run the scans.

    I can imagine.

    Do you have the MGlogs.zip as well from running MGTOOLs.exe?

    Yes , I'm sorry I missed that one.

    You've gone and attached a single log there from out of the MGlogs.zip. I want you to attach the actual MGlogs.zip not individual files from within it. Thanks :)

    Sorry for the delay.

    Re run Malware Bytes and have it remove all that it finds.

    Re run Hitman Pro and have it remove items under the heading Malware and also Malware Remnants. Attach log afterwards.

    http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/9659/rktigzy.gif Fix items using RogueKiller.

    Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7/8 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
    When it opens, press the Scan button
    Now click the Registry tab and locate these detections:

    • [Suspicious.Path] (X64) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VOTPrx (C:\Users\teste\AppData\Local\JumpstarSto895\VOTPrx.exe) -> Found
    • [Suspicious.Path] (X64) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet001\Services\VOTPrx (C:\Users\teste\AppData\Local\JumpstarSto895\VOTPrx.exe) -> Found

    Place a checkmark next to each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.

    ...and the same for these items on the task tab please...

    • [Suspicious.Path] %WINDIR%\Tasks\ElasCav88.job -- C:\Users\teste\AppData\Local\SecuSt38\Sereplace.exe -> Found
    • [Suspicious.Path] %WINDIR%\Tasks\FresSt25.job -- C:\Users\teste\AppData\Local\SecuSt38\Setoogle.exe -> Found
    • [Suspicious.Path] \ElasCav88 -- C:\Users\teste\AppData\Local\SecuSt38\Sereplace.exe -> Found
    • [Suspicious.Path] \FresSt25 -- C:\Users\teste\AppData\Local\SecuSt38\Setoogle.exe -> Found
    • [Suspicious.Path|VT.PUP.Optional.DownLoadAdmin] \UpdateAdmin -- C:\Users\teste\AppData\Local\UpdateAdmin\UpdateAdmin.exe (/RUN) -> Found
    When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
    Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
    Reboot the machine.

    http://imageshack.us/a/img841/7292/thisisujrt.gif Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

    Re run Hitman Pro again (just a scan) and attach new log also.
    Same for Malware Bytes
    Run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.
    Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running!

    In rogueKiller under registry I could not find the two detections you had listed it wasn't a log it was the suspicious path links

    What about Malware Bytes? Did it find anything else when you ran it again?

    You also forgot this part:

    tester36 Private First Class

    Malwarebytes ran clean this last time.
    The computer seems to be running better . I wish I knew what I did to get this , I have Mcafee through my ATT provider but I don't like it much doesn't seem to catch anything. Do you have any other recommendations for prevention? C:MGtools\GetLogs.bat does not show in that format , it is on my desktop but I cant seem to attach it to the post.

    Attach the log for JRT.
    Re run Hitman Pro and RogueKiller again (just scans) attach logs.

    I currently use Avast free edition, I would recommend this or Comodo free edition.

    Good Morning Kestril!
    Sorry so slow. As I was trying to run the Rogue killer the computer kept restarting with the error Critical Process Died. But after the third try it did run.
    Other things seem to be running correctly. Thanks for all your help I did not have the money they wanted to do all this.:wave

    Hi tester :)

    Scam. Microsoft will never call or email you. You did the right thing to not trust them. Reviewing the logs now.....

    I am glad to hear that :)

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others) and running MGclean.bat did not remove them, you can delete these files now.
    3. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    4. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    5. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.

    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
