Newly built computer. Only application loaded is ZoneAlarm Security Suite.
Drivers for two printers from the supplied CD's. Drivers for the Cable Modem.

Ran perfect for two weeks. Now the issue. I went to load some files off a CD that I burned from another computer of mine, (the one I'm doing this on)and after I loaded the files my CD drives wouldn't work. spin up but, message divice is not working on both drives. The sound to the speakers wouldn't work from a file on the HD and I had two new folders on the desktop that I didn't put there. Both named UK-ENG. Opened them to see what was in them and they had all different file types. Went to delete them and got the message that it might be dangerous to delete them, Operating system might not funtion corretly.

On the original computer I am paranoid about spyware, virus's etc. so I'm obsessed with downloading and scanning every online, resident and other program you guy's recomend in this forum!

Here's the catch after I had that episode with the new computer I loaded the CD back into this computer and lost my drivers on this computer also, wasn't sure what was going on whereas the files on the CD came off this computer.

XP home, Athalon xp 2400 512 mb ddr 50gb seagate HD.

Any clues as to what might have happened? I did a seach here and came up with nothing.

Your message seems to have slipped down to page 4 without being noticed. Sorry about that.

I'm not sure if this a malware problem or hardware. But let's check.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

    Please follow the steps below:

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Thanks for the reply. On the new computer, I just went ahead and reformated the drive and reinstalled the OS. On this computer I restored it to the day before in order for it to be up and running. I first scanned it with two online scanners, four malware programs , ZoneAlert scanners found nothing, so that's why I restored it to the day before. Today I will go through the whole tutorial again and run the HiJack this program and post the log.
