New Firewire

    I have just installed a new mobo which has 2 firewire ports....i just wanted to ask what uses Firewire ports and are they the same as USB? :)

    Firewire is not the same as USB.

    Firewire is great for devices that need wide bandwidth, like Digital Video. So say you had a Digital Camera, most of them these days come with a mini Firewire port that you can use to connect to your computers Firewire port and capture all the video into your system without any problem.

    Other uses are portable Hard Drives, DVD Writers. Firewire is a young technology you will see more often over the next 5-10 years.
