New Gaming PC?

I'm not completely sure if I've put this in the right area of the forums, but I'll go ahead anyway!

Basically I'm coming into some money soon, and I'm looking into finally buying a new PC specifically for gaming (particularly RTS: Starcraft 2, Dawn of War 2, World in Conflict, Supreme Commander 2, etc.). In 2006 I was on top of the PC game, using microdirect I got together a list of parts I was going to buy and ultimately bought and built a pretty awesome PC, which still runs fantastically well now in terms of playing music and browsing the internet, but occasionally the 1gb of RAM does show itself up.

Anyway, the time has come for a new PC, but my knowledge of building computers has been reduced to nothing (I've no idea what to look for), to the point where I'd be quite content to simply buy a new PC already built but without getting too ripped off. I'd always be willing to get a custom PC to save money, but I'm not overly good at building PC's and I wouldn't like to mess that up and break something!

I live in the UK, and I'm willing to spend about £600, possibly £700 at a stretch. So I was wondering, does anybody know of any great deals available? Or what in particular I should be looking out for?

It's also the interfaces that bother me, is PCI-Express still used for graphics cards? Is SATA still used for hard drives? (feel free to correct me if I got that wrong)

Any advice would be super awesome.

as a general starting point, i would look at companies that build gaming pc's. Like cyberpower pc, or alienware. I would never buy anything from them, but it gives you a good idea of what's available in gaming rigs. They can get quite expensive, but like i said, it's just a way to check out what's going in their rigs.

    Hi

While I know in part its a gaming question, its more hardware and you will gain more replies from hardware folk in this part of the forum.

Have a wander around a local PC World and see what gaming PCs they have on offer at present, but what you would be looking at for the games you listed is a fairly powerful PC, at least a Core2Duo CPU, 2-4GB ram and a mid to high end Graphics Card as those games can be GPU intensive.

Only just skirted over the specs but these are not bad
Dell XPS (doesnt come with monitor)
    Acer M3300
just two quick examples, but I'm not a great fan of onboard graphic solutions in a gaming PC, a dedicated card is generally for me better.

Personally I build my own PCs as if you take it slow its not too hard, and if a friend or two are technically minded and have built their own, get them onboard to help you.

On the build your own type the folks here like thesmonkingun above are great at giving ideas and sourcing components that will work well together and you will gain better parts as I mentioned above many of the retail ones have onboard graphics while they are better these days, they are not as good imho than that of a dedicated card for graphics.

I'll take a look at those later today, cheers though.

@Halo: I never fancied the idea of getting a pc with dedicated onboard graphics anyway, there always had to be a dedicated one in.

Anyway, cheers for those, my number one choice so far is this PC from Aria.

I'm glad you mentioned RAM though, since I was coming across PC's ranging from 4gb to 8gb of RAM, it really worries me, the idea of getting what I think is a great new PC, installing Starcraft 2 and then finding that 4gb of RAM just wasn't enough.
