I'm a fan of GPS gadgets and found this new release by TomTom pretty interesting.

I guess it was announced a couple weeks ago now, but their new ONE XL-S device has the text-to-speech function. For any of you gps enthusiasts out there, you know devices with this function are a big deal, especially when they're priced at $400.

I recently (yesterday) bought a new gps for my bike (i.e. gary fisher). A Garmin Edge 305. Will be using it tomorrow to track my trail. Then check it out on google earth.

I have a Garmin GPSmap76CSx. I bought a bike mount for it on vacation this past summer. Used it for a couple of hours on my bike, then haven't seen it since I got back. The bike mount that is.

This is kinda freaky. I logged in today because I wanted to ask if there were any GPS geeks here......

OK... as long as I know there are a few more here now, anyone know where I can find good GPS stuff online??

I bought a GPS unit off e-bay, very generic, plays MP3's/4's and holds e-books and stuff like that (pix too) but I bought it because it advertised Maps of North America......... well, according to the seller, Washington State is North America and E-Bay backed them up on it. This uses NDrive, who only has maps for Europe, Brazil and Washington State. I am looking for compatable maps and can not find diddly on the net.

I have tried loading other systems on there and re-writing the shell to start them, but have not gotten anywhere. I guess I am looking for a forum or 'support group' that could get me pointed in the right direction.... I love popping it in the car and seeing my Lat/Long change and watch what my speed in kmh is (fairly accuate according to my vehicle speedometer actually), but I want to really USE it.

Thanks in advance to my fellow geeks for any direction :)

PS: I forgot, I live in the state of NY in the USA :)

We have a Magellan Maestro, and love it. Only thing is, a few of the establishments listed in its database are incorrect. My wife does always state about it should state when you head the wrong direction "You idiot, why are you going this way, when I told you the other way." I am thinking that that would be the Wife accessory.

I saw one in the shape of a little teddy bear that you tie into your children's shoelace and you can track from a PC or cell phone... it was neat.

I wish I could, unfortunately, it is a generic model. I tried looking up groups for the NDrive GPS Software, but they are mostly in other languages.... I speak/read English and a little bit of German, that's about it.

Ah well... I still like watching the numbers change as I drive along :)
