New Graphics Card for an Acer Aspire X3400

I would like a recommendation on a graphics card for my Acer Aspire X3400. I usually play console games and use the PC for work but I was always a huge fan of SimCity. Since playing the new one will probably be the only graphics driven thing I do on my PC, I would like to upgrade instead of buying a new one.

Can anyone suggest a decent graphics card that will fit in the case? I've read here that there isn't much room.

If it will help, the game calls for an ATI Radeon HD 2400 or better, NVIDIA 7800 or better, Intel HD Graphics or better.

    Thank you all in advance.

Thanks for the help and the insight. I know the model of my PC. It's an Acer Aspire X3400-U2022. I'm hoping someone can recommend a graphics card for it. I've read here that there is an issue when it comes to space so I need a "low-profile" card. The game I would like to play requires an ATI Radeon HD 2400 or better, NVIDIA 7800 or better, Intel HD Graphics or better.

Specs for your PC state you have an nVidia GeForce 9200 GPU.

Does that mean that my GPU is good enough to run SimCity? The software tells me that my graphics card doesn't meet the minimum requirement.

Is there a RAM requirement for this software?

Unless I am mistaken, you only have 256MB of integrated video memory.

The game may require more than that. What are the minimum requirements for the version of SimCity you are trying to play?

That's part of my whole dilemma. I know I can't play it with what I have now and the only thing it says that I need to be running an ATI Radeon HD 2400 or better, NVIDIA 7800 or better, Intel HD Graphics or better. It only gives me RAM requirements for the PC, not the graphics card. So, I'm a little lost.

Well, then it seems and upgrade is required.

TigerDirect will be the best source out there for lo-pro cards. What kind of budget do you have?

I went ahead and ordered an ASUS EAH5450 SILENT/DI/1GD3(LP) Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card.

    I hope that's enough.

That card is really more for viewing video (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) than it is hard gaming.

But SimCity shouldn't be really resource intensive compared to first person shooters, or games which rock at a high framerates (FPS). Most likely it will work out OK. Going with anything that has a fan would probably require a power supply upgrade to a minimum of 400 watts.

Stock, you have a 220 watt onboard.

If we knew his motherboard will be able to find what is the best choice , follow my 2 post my friend :wave

After reviewing the Acer specification page for this model, it appears that all PCs in this series used the same motherboard, and the main difference being which hardware components were on the board by specific model. There was a choice of Athlon, or Phenom CPU, multiple graphics configurations, and various hard drives, but the base graphics chipset is a GeForce 9200. The base power supply was 220 watts, and since this PC did not come stock with an added video card it would have the bare minumum PSU.

So it can reasonably be said a good choice of card was made considering power limitations.
