No, those upgrades won't require a reinstall of Windows...

If i were to format would it make any difference?

Not as far as the hardware goes. If your computer is running slow because of spyware, or too many programs loaded at runtime, or driver problems, etc. then yes. But, it won't really make the hardware perform any better.

Agree with wyatt, check out scan.co.uk everything is cheaper and they use more packaging to keep your stuff safe, see if the parts you want are on the Today only page ;)

Hmm ok Then ill give it a miss im adoomed with the idea of doing it.

Also. I play many online games such as Counter-strike:source which is the main reasons im purchasing these upgrades.

Alot of the time my harddrive will start making alot of noise and vibrating? Which lags my game. Ive defragged and run virus scans. What do you think the problem is and do you think this new hardware will resolve this problem.

just checked your system summary m8 your cpu multi and frequency are half of what they should be,halving the performance of your computer, this could be due to a temp monitoring or idle program, could you have a quick look in bios to see what your multi and cpu frequency is del as soon as your comp is turned on

I'm gonna need that translated im not very good with computers :p

Also! Bet u cant wait for me to shutup. After the components are installed. Will i have to adjust there settings or just use the comp as normal?

No problem:) ,hey its your thread you can do all the talking you want;) ,your cpu frequency is worked out by multiplying your front side bus which is 200mhz by your multiplier, your current multiplier is set at x5 it should be set to x 11 ,this will make your cpu run at the speed it was designed to run at 2.2 mhz instead of what its running at now which is 994 mhz,as I said this could be due to a peice of software you have installed

to find out what your motherboard has your multiplyer set at we need to go into your bios the basic controls of your computer and have a look,to enter bios,as soon as you press the power on switch to your computer start tapping the delete key you will be then presented with a list of options, look through the different menus and options until you find your cpu speed and multiplyer settings write then down and post back

Alternitively when your computer is first turned on the black screen with the white writing on try to read what speed your cpu is running at it should say amd sempron running at $$$$ mhz or along those lines :)

edit-your bios may also need updating to be able to detect your cpu correctly I'll go into that if your are uneay about adjusting the cpu multiplier manually

I had a bit of trouble getting the info.. i couldnt get the multiplier setting as it simply wasnt there.. But in the settings it said my CPU speed was 1800 MHz

Thats strange your cpu speed 1.8 ghz is that of a sempron 2600,yet your system summary says a sempron 3000 running at 994 mhz, what program did you use to get your system summary

    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181

try this program, run a system summary and upload the file with your next post, underneath the type box click the manage attachements button and locate where you saved the system summary then upload

If you get stuck dont hesitate to post back;)

It looks as though you only have a sempron 2600,do you have any documentation for your comp that states you have a sempron 3000+ ,so its a HP desktop computer, the reason your games are lagging and your hardrive is working overdrive is the size of your installed memory, you only have a single stick of 256mb ddr 3200,32mb of this is being used by your onboard video card,to be honest this isnt enough really to run xp well enough let alone play games, the best upgrade you could get is another 256mb of memory you want it to match the make of the memory you have installed if possible, when buying the memory it will have 4 numbers on it you need them to be 3-3-3-8 for maximum compatibility with your old memory,if you cant get hold of the same make or latencies 'the 4 numbers' its not the end of the world just best for maximun compatibility,if you can afford it buy one gigabyte of memory the more you have the less your harddrive has to work

The next thing to look at is a video card, you have a pci-e port but you wont be able to make the most of a 7800gt because your cpu isnt fast enough ,you should look at a 6600gt or 6800gt they will both be a huge improvement over your onboard card

HP use their own computer cases with their own power supplies it would be unlikely that a regular atx style power supply will fit into your case, you also may not need one as you have a pretty modern pci-e motherboard, can you post the name of your hp---presario 3000 for example

Also defrag and clean up your harddrive on a regular basis to keep it running smoothly

    :)

I very much doubt it HP computers dont have detailed controllable bios's they dont really want you to go messing in there, speeding up the cpu is called overclocking, first we need to find out what cpu you actually have in there hence we need to know the name of your HP

Yeah, many times, the power supplies in Compaqs, HPs, eMachines, and the like are proprietary. And if it does fit, it may have the wrong connector. Best case scenario, a standard ATX power supply will fit just fine. Worst case, you'll need a new Case/PSU and motherboard.

Oh ****. =/ How would i know that a standard ATX will fit?
