I sent a post earlier and thanks to dlb, I got most of my original drivers for this Compaq Presario SR1820NX. I still to find what goes with these other things that Device manager is comming up with.
    1. Other PCI Bridge Devuce
    2. PCI Simple Communications Controls
    3. Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus
dlb gave me the following links to my computers original drivers. I am not sure, but I think that the ethernet card is the LAN drivers file in thiis list.

    Chipset: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...roduct=1841849
    Modem: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...roduct=1841849
    Ethernet: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...roduct=1841849
KB888111; Microsoft UAA High Def Audio Update: ftp://ftp.microsoft.com.ar/so/KB8881...88111xpsp2.exe Not Used Had SP 3
    HD Audio Driver: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...roduct=1841849
    Video/Graphics Driver: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...roduct=1841849

Can anyone direct me in getting these particular things resolved. I am almost fone and can register Windows and install my other software.

    Thank you so much people.

HI! The 'PCI Simple Communications Controller" is the dial-up modem. If you don't use dial up internet, then you can probably just leave this uninstalled, but if you need the driver just to be complete, you can try this driver. This driver is for the 'stock' dial-up modem that originally shipped with the SR1820NX. If you never changed the modem, then this driver should work. If the PC sound is working, then I'm not sure what the 'Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus' would be. It may be tied to the modem (I've seen this before) and installing the modem driver should fix it. The 'Other PCI Bridge Device' is usually something in the chipset driver, but if you installed the chipset from the link above, then I'm not sure what it is. For this 'other device', download and unzip Unknown Devices. Run it and right-click on this device, select 'Device Details' and post that info here and I'll try to figure out what this device is....

Thank you for the help. The modem I have not used, but I like to have everything ready to use, Hate seeing those exclaimation marks or red 'X's. Once I finish these, especially my Ethernet card stuff, I'll be on my way!!

Oh Happy day...my dual core is working! :-D

    Hi there, :wave

I need some further advice please. I have been quite successful except this one driver not being installed. I have the driver that the Realtek installation is asking for. (UAA driver). I do not know why it does not recognize it. I thought that I would reboot, in case I hadn't since installing my other stuff. That made no difference. This diver is needed for my HD gamming. (See Uploaded picture of what I speak)

Now that I am online, I can get some updated drivers and I need to get a special driver for my mouse (it;s older, but I have need of this ergonomic mouse).

I need to get my security up and going before downloading. Does anyone have some quick ideas on how they would set up thier security on a new build? Like what are some good alternatives to McAffee's security suite (offered free by my ISP)?

Y' all great folks here. I hope when I get going on this new OS build, that I could be of help to someone else...Thanks!

    Hi

For the Audio driver, as you have SP3 and it was already included, you may need to attempt this trick here to fool Windows into thinking the UAA driver is not installed.

Whats your mouses make and model?

Quick idea on security is here, but do start a new thread in the software area for questions on security as its best to seperate various questions, saves multiple various ideas flying at you when the main issue in this thread is drivers.

Logitech Trackman Marble FX. I had this driver somewhere, but must have had a non-descript name. I will have to Download it again, I guess. It is a ergonomic 4 button mouse, BTW

I think I fixed the issue with the UAA & Resltek install. Now I must turn it off so I can use my HD headphone/microphone. I went up on the Windows Update once I got connected. It recognized the Realtek and Modem devices and installed the right stuff.

Thank you for the tip on security. Seems like some good advice on alternative SW. I'll take a looksie. I will ask for specific commercial SW for Organization in another thread.

Now one to installing all my SW and making tons of adjustments. Thanks for all the help guys.
