You could get a nice Zalman, Gigabyte or Akasa Heatsink/fan for that much.

    £25 = $45.4227 which rounds to $45ish.

Yup any 80mm or 90mm fan will fit,but it has to have the small 3 pin plug for your mobo or the fan failure alarm wont work, water cooling is great,a half decent setup will cost you about £200,or you could opt for the cheap kits for about £50,but I wouldnt trust my hardware to a £5 aquarium pump.lol ;)

god i didnt know that water cooling was that expencive. by the way you may think im tight with money but im 14 and i need to spend a long time saving up. and i like playing the top games on my pc. and can you have a look at this one and see what you think thanks UKARMYCADET

Here read the review for yourself,I trust this website, anyway no matter which you go to they will say the same thing, the only better heatsinks are the copper version the xp-90c or the xp120 which is huge, while your reading this I'll go to thermalright and check it fits your mobo. ;)

Thats you, heres the link I ya wanna check it yourself

    http://www.thermalright.com/support_default.htm

You get heatpaste and the mounting bracket to fit your mobo, the next hurdle is whether you want to fit it you will have to remove the mobo to fit the bracket and you need a fan the 80 or 92mm zalmans will both fit and have the right connector

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/zalman_fans.htm

    or the 92mm ystech

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_YS_Tech_60.html

bit more expensive but quieter and more powerfull.

Just to give more kudos to the Thermalrite XP-90... I got a p4 3.4 GhZ w/ HT and I was having overheating problems. Under a full-load usually I was hitting temps at least in the mid 60 C before my intel sensor alarm thing started going crazy. after i installed my XP-90 i haven't got above 53 C under a full-load. installation was easy and pain free. no tools needed. right now idle is at 41c actually. i bought mine from newegg.com and with shipping it was $44 USD

thanks dc. so it fits most motherbords. just wondering did you get the alu or the copper xp- 90. and how do i go about fitting a fan

    thanks for the reasureance. UKARMYCADET

i dont think it really matters about the motherboard, but more specifically the socket type. i got socket 478 and it fits that fine. in the package it comes in there is an adapter, in case you are running an amd processor. i got the aluminum model and im extremely happy with it. the part about mounting the fan...i had a few extra 80mm fans laying around. the one that i used was a aerocool silver blade case fan. the box the xp-90 comes in comes with two rubber 'shock absorbers'. you have the choice of sticking them to the inner mount, which is for the 80mm fans, or mount them on the top rails, which is for the 92m fans. 4 clips come with the xp-90, 2 for 92mm if you go that route, and 2 for the 80mm route if you go that route. just follow the instructions it comes with and you'll have no problems. it even comes with thermal gel. plus it looks really cool once its installed.

thanks for explaining it. i will defently buy it when i scrape some cash togeather.
I will probably get copper not alu.

didnt know i got cooling gel. :)

    thanks again UKARMYCADET

I'm looking for a high cfm 92mm transparent fan at the moment like this 80mm akasa from my akasa ak-859,the heatsink is designed to take an 80mm fan but ofcourse I want a 92mm and it must be transparent,I dont want to cover up the xp-90c it looks too good.

I would have gone for the xp-120 but it dont fit my mobo, one of the heatpipes gets in the way of the capacitors, that 120 is only £1.50 or something cheaper, not really a decision making price cut.

To army cadet, its at the moment for cooling because of the heatwave, soon I will overclock it,yeh I use my computer for playing games,If you dont play games I dont really see the point of overclocking

:-s its about £4.50 cheeper this week than last week ..... when you add vat on to it, also the Akasa AK-183-L2B is on sale this week ...... save £2.35 on it ... ok its not massive ammounts of money but still £6.85 is a good saving ;-)

still it will be here by tuesday ;) .... nice and cool cpu comming up for me :D

I have done a little research on the supplied paste with the thermalright xp 90 and 120,asus started a thread about here in the cooling and modding section and its actually a paste provided by arctic"makers of arctic silver" ;) to thermalright and guess what its based on arctic ceramic which some believe to be better than AS5 :)

so i should try it and see what it holds out at? ..........

    what do you think?

  48. lotk

    lotk Private E-2

i dont know thats why i asksed ;) ....... lol ...... just that i have read some reviews on the xp-120 and they say that they had werid results because of the paste that comes with it ........... they changed it to as 5 and was much better ....... but i thought as5 takes longer to fully "set in" as so to speek?

  49. Rikky

Rikky Wile E. Coyote - One of a kind

I have used as5,because its what the rest of the world uses and because I didnt forget to order some! :D lol,If I were you I'd go with the bundled paste,I think it must be pretty decent stuff, people who spend so much on a cooler know about thermal paste,so I dont think thermalright have put it in there unless it could compete,it just depends how much your temps drop after the 200 hour breakin period 5-7 is about whats expected from AS5 if that happens with the bundled stuff keep it.

BTW I asked whats going underneath it as in cpu,if you post your specs in your signature it makes things a whole lot easier :D

soz ... keep forgetting to do that ....... going on top of a prescot 3.0e :)
