well it all turned up this morning ..... 2 days ahead of time so i put it all together ......... now im running at 41C idle using the standard compound that came with the xp-120, ...... will invest in some AS5 and see if it drops it down the reported 5-7 that most people say ..... if so i will have a prescot 3.0E running at about 35-38C at idle ;) ....... yay for me

Help me - I currently have a Qtec overclocker enhanced heatsink and fan - My friend said that i should have no problems with it but i am - my Pc is overheating all the time (I think) I am currently only using a AMD 2600+ Processor and it runs at 35 degrees celcius standing and can get up to 50 when plauing games is this normal? Also if i will need to replace the heatsink and fan with a bigger one how can i take this off lol i cant seem to do it and this means i cant clean it.

CPU temp sitting at 43c at the moment using the xp-120 and the supplied thermal grease ........... will leave it on for 2 weeks to get a "burn in" on the compound ....... then might change it to as5 to see if it drops any more

i'd be carefull with the condensation from the bottle, just took a pic my system temp 28 degrees, about 1 or 2 degrees above room temp ;)My case fans are doing well, not sure about my xp 90c yet though, might try the thermalright paste today,my cpu is still hitting 50 under load, its hard to tell though with this heat wave were having, its the hottest the weathers been since I bought it.

BTW post some pics of your system ;)

true ...... i guess the 90's and the 120's will only come in the own when the temp outside drops enough ......... still heres to monster heatsinks ;)

also do you think that i should get a faster 120 fan for it .... max is currently 1300 rpm?

whatever noise you can stand,I use a fan controller and just up the speed until it becomes too noisy, its not the speed its the cfm rating of your fan, most 120's run about 45cfm at about 20db of noise, find out the make of your fan and look it up,if you got the fan from overclockers they have all the cfm values listed on the page

should By AS5 about 8USD at my country, when you take CPU heatsink out becarefully it is easily broken core if it happen CPU will go to overheat->unstable->death.
If you do not know how to take the heatsink out, I think you should ask for help from someone that they have been done it, if you want to try do not use much strengh take a look throu the CPU heatsink clip on socket 462 with screwer press the heatsink clip down then how to take it out you will know ?
I want to remind again that do not use much strengh, do not press any corner of CPU heatsink down it wil make CPU broken.

    :D

I managed to get off the heatsink without doing any damage to any thing was easier than i thought but it actaully took a bit of force and the aid of a small screwdriver - I now have had to put it back in again as when i added my new heatsink and fan after turning on my PC about 2 seconds into the startup process my PC shuts off and an alarm sounds over and over again until i pull out the power supply - I dont understand why it does this. any thoughts and what i could do to fi it?

What kind of heatsink you put in, it design for amd right ?
sound like your CPU is overheat take it out again, a thin of AS5 on CPU core then put it in seat. ;)
