    Greetings

Here for help with malware. First timer on a forum.

Will be investigating where and how to post the logs created as I tried to remove the malware following 'your' instructions. Some things worked and some things didn't. Some things made sense, others did not, but I followed the instructions.

I am still having trouble: Adobe AND NOW java updates being prompted. IN facebook all of the ads are about my computer crashing. these ads are animated and attract attention by shacking the graphics.

This is a new HP computer running win7pro 64 and I suspect that the problem began when I downloaded a picture resizing program. I do not remember where I got it, but I go to reputable sites like two cows or znet to search for utilities. I have experienced this issue almost from the beginning.

I have no idea how this forum works. I don't know if I am going to get an email telling me that someone has replied with a fix for me or if I have to check back... not sure how to find this 'thread' either... but I am trying everything I know to do.

the first utility I downloaded and ran found several things... it was SO tempting to REMOVE them at that very moment, but the instruction said not to so I moved forward with the other tools. The last tool seemed to be indicating in the dos like window that it was not able to create files or logs or something. I was also unable to locate that on the c drive and had to place it on the desktop.

I can seem to find 2 of the files/logs.

Where should they be? how do I know that those utilities worked and created a log?

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

To properly check your PC for malware, we really require logs from normal boot mode and you ran things in safe boot mode. However let's address what I see in the current logs.

First problem is that you have multiple antivirus programs installed. Ad-Aware and Symantec, The READ & RUN ME specified up front that you should never do this. Since Ad-Aware is not something we recommend anymore and it also put the Blekko junk on your PC that you saw in Hitman Pro, I recommend that you start by uninstalling Ad-Aware immediately. Make sure that both Ad-Aware Antivirus and
    Ad-Aware Security Add-on are uninstalled.

Please download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
    • Right-click OTM.exe and select Run as administrator to run it.
    • Copy the lines from the below codebox to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C
(or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy): Do not include the word Code: which is just a title line of
      the code box
    Code:

    explorer.exe

    dir C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Productivity and Tools /c
    dir C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Security and Protection /c

    [EmptyTemp]
    [start explorer]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar
      ) and choose Paste.
    • Now click the large http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/MoveIt!.png button.
    • If OTM asks to reboot your computer, allow it to do so. The report should appear in Notepad after the reboot.
    • Close OTM.
Now navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder ( assuming your Windows drive is C). This is where your log will be
saved in the form of Date and Time mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log. Just look for the most recent .log file. Attach
this log file to your next message.

Now please download Junkware Removal Tool[/URL] to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Note: That JRT may reset your home page to a google default so you will need to restore your home page setting if this happens.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

Now make sure that you are in normal boot mode and run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles log
    • the JRT.TXTlog
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!
