New laptop :D

Im on my new laptop its a 166MHz compaq presario 1080 with 32MB ram I might OC it to 200 hehe any one know whare i can get more ram for this thing ?? And i need a TFT screen BAD the screen is horable ......

I took it apart i couldent find a jumper combonation that runs over 166 :-/ ...
I did clean out the fan so id dont sound like a small leaf blower and it dont run as mutch now..
What ya think should i run win 95 insted of win 98 ?? You think the ram whould be propriatary ?? Im all excited about this laptop ......

 

Pretty much any flavour of Linux would run very nicely on that box, and way better than Win95 IMO

True ... I under volted it so it runs cooler and I replaced the stock cells in the battery with better ones ....but when i put it back together i found out i riped the IDE cable I have a perfectly workign laptop with no harddrive ......now i need to find a new cable or pain stakingly resolder the 40 wires any one know whare i can get one its the same 40 pin plug on both ends (like normal IDE but smaller) ?? damn this sucks and i just got it ..

Linux that whould be interesting iv never worked with linux before whare do i go to get it ???

 

Someone gave me a link to download linux I think, it was two downloads of about 600mb. I'm pretty sure it was legal, I'll try and find the site.

I just did a clean reinstall of Fedora Core 3 64 bit on my second HD. Including all the updates I wanted it's taken 2 hours.

Detected all my hardware, including, AMD 64 3000, 1Gb DDR 400 RAM, Radeon 9600 XT 256Mb, Samsung ML1210, Audigy2, oh and a USB jump drive I'd accidentally left in.

Alternatively, if you buy a copy of the Jan 2005 Linux Format DVD edition it's got the complete Fedora Core 3 and Ubuntu distros on it plus a lot of other goodies
