New Laptop Windows 7

    I currently have an HP laptop running Win 7 Pro. I have a new lenovo laptop also running Win 7 Pro. Can I use system restore to back up all my old docs and programs from the old laptop and then restore them to the new laptop?

    I have a ton of data as this is a work laptop and do not want to loase any of my data or programs and all my thousands of email.

    So I was wondering if I could just use the built in Win 7 back-up and restore to do this?

    Greetings, tinalms, and welcome to MajorGeeks.

    Since both machines are running Win 7 Pro, you might consider using Easy Transfer (Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Windows Easy Transfer). Options are available for cable, network, or external drive transfer for virtually every type of file that you wish to move.
