    It's an HP nc6320.

It's pretty sweet. Technically it's a business laptop - but it's rugged, has a bunch of USEFUL features (like a serial port, something you don't see often these days), and very ergonomic.

They keyboard is very tactule and feels like you're actually typing on something rather than clicking buttons. It's got plenty of USB ports and firewire too, and a reasonable sound card. It's got a 60GB hard drive, a DVD-RAM drive (oooh!) and Bluetooth. There is also a fingerprint reader but since it isn't supported in the BIOS I'm not bothering with it. Battery life is good at around 2 hours - and I'm going to be buying the upgrade battery in the near future too! It has 512MB of ram (which I'll shortly be upgrading to 768) and a Core Duo processor @ 1.66GHz.

The screen is bright and sharp - only 1024x768 but to be fair I don't care that much. I don't really need high res on a laptop.

Naturally I've got Linux running on it (Ubuntu 6.06 to be precise), and I'm using FVWM-Crystal as my window manager (screw gnome and metacity). It's very, very fast.

Oh, those... I don't really like the look of them... but they're still really good laptops!

    Congrats.

I, on the other hand, love the look :) I like how it's chunky and it feels like it's tough, as opposed to other laptops I've seen which feel like they're made of breadsticks.

Visit www.crucial.com for a free on-line scan of your PC.
It will tell you make and model of your RAM, what RAM it will take and show costs.

No need to buy RAM from them, of course, but it will give you a good idea of represenataive prices, size options, etc.
