Thank you zbd for replying. Wondering if a bigger one would be better without all the extras?
Any one else have any comments about this?

Honestly, I'd look for something with a Centrino class processor or better, and at least 1GB of RAM, especially if it comes with Vista. Just an opinion though.

It seems to be a good price for what it comes bundled with.

Would like to piggy-back this discussion if ok.
Am trying to figure out best-buy for 'business' laptop, and really interested in speed (with XPpro for at least a couple more years) more than anything.
Would that be pretty much taken care of with the max RAM (say 1-GB) available for a reasonable price (say under $2000) ?
Guess other features such as min 5hr battery life, wifi conn, dvd/cd burner, durability, security, easy transfer to PDA, etc would also be necessary.
    Thoughts ?

Looks like a good deal to me. I'd rather see a 15.4" screen and 2 gigs of RAM for Vista. Or 1 gig of RAM for XP.

Don't fall for Duo Core or Dual 2 Core CPU's. These do not take the greatest advantage of current software, unless you are a heavy user of video movie editing, etc..

A single CPU, of the highest speed you can afford, would be better IMO. Bazza

A trawl through Major Geeks search forum or Google, including the words ACER and reliability might prove interesting.

That's not a good laptop. The AS3690 (that link is for the 3680) sells on newegg for $600.

The monitor is only worth about $150-175
    The printer is worth $50
    The wireless router is garbage
The keyboard and mouse is worth about $25

Based on the $1100 price tag I say it's a rip off, but that's just me and it's not even a good laptop. I'd recommend buying an IBM, Asus or Sony.

Something like this would be a much better buy..

Very similar system except this one has a larger screen(widescreen), faster processor and is more reliable.

    Here's a slightly different one... $649.99

Pretty much the same as above only 15" screen (non widescreen)

Take advantage of some of those rebates there. You'll get a much better system than that ShopNBC Acer bundle and you might actually be able to save some money.

Like said above though 512MB of ram isn't much for Vista. An $800 or so system will get you 1GB of ram and Vista Home Premium.

According to the guy who I talked to before I bought this, he said I could buy more RAM if I needed. Would it help to do that?
Or how else could I speed it up? I did delete all the Norton off it.
