New LG W1942T LCD Monitor Seems Very Pixelated/Smudgey

I have just recently upgraded my monitor after using a CRT since having a computer over 12 years ago. I went with an LG W1942T 19" Widescreen Monitor upon the recommendation of the Beast Buy employee.

Everything seems fine except that when trying to watch a DvD or DvD rip, the picture is very pixelated/smudgey. It's almost like the aresolution is too large for the movie. Which doesn't seem right since these are all widescreen movies that I'm trying to watch.

On my old 17" CRT I didn't have these issues with it's native resolution of 1024 x 768. This new LCD is a native resolution of 1440 x 990.

I have messed with the settings and nothing seems to want to fix it.

Shouldn't the picture be pretty crystal clear?

Hmm, I've got a similar or same WS monitor and I love it! Have you tried updating your video card drivers yet? Maybe try a different video card if you can. BTW, what video card do you have? Someone may know if there are issues with it.

My video card drivers are as up to date as I can get them, but I will look to be sure.

It's a MSI Geforce 8600GT Twin Turbo video card. As much as I would love to get a new one, this one has to last me at least another year before I consider an upgrade.

Well, that's a good card. Did you use the installation disk?

I did use the install disk for the monitor, yes.

Ouch. You will need a real hardware guy then. The card could be going bad but I'm not sure, can you bring the monitor over to a friend to rule that out? Good luck.
