New "Linux Foundation" Formed

    Wrote a long article sometime ago, the problem is getting people to believe in 5 or 6 versions of Linux, as Vista is doing. #1 problem and confusion is choosing a distro, all before the get to harder things like partitioning or driver install.

    I hope someone at the top gets a clue and realizes to be mainstream, it has to be simple. KISS.

    Countless distros, countless package management systems, countless text files to be edited.

    I enjoy Linux, because its fun to me, but it will NEVER make it mainstream.

    I'm in the process of making a harder than average distro user friendly (for fun), but lets face it, if something broke for the average user, they would be screwed on fixing it.

    I thought this was a cute quote.

    Thats incredibly inaccurate :)

    Its down to OS X and Windows for mainstream computing, and OS X is barely making a dent. Linux has lost the race for Desktop support.

    Of course, Linux was never really designed (originally) with desktop use in mind, so its at a disadvantage.

    Yes, like Mac users and viruses, they are living in a dream world. What makes Linux great is also what will keep it from being mainstream. Opensource. I can count tons of compnaies who made it to store shelves and had great ideas who failed because they had to compete with tons of distros.

    Its like walking into a car dealership to buy a car, then the dealer tells you that there is an auto MALL down the road and you can have any car there for free!

    What would you do?
