Well at last all the parts are here and apart from a few more additions like the card reader, new PSU everything else is up and running.:p

    Zalman 9700
    Pentium 805D@3.6Ghz 1.4v (Stable in all but 3D Mark@4.0Ghz)
    ABIT AW8D Intel 975
    2048MB Dual Channel DDR2 800 G-Skill
    Radeon X1950GT
    160GB SATA HDD

At 4.0Ghz I had to bring the VCore up to 1.45v or 1.5v in order to maintain stability. RAM is up at 2.0v from 1.8v which has added to stability. All buses have been locked. In windows performance is 100% as is stability in Sandra tests came back good, no lockups nothing. Although 3D Mark 06 would lock on each CPU test. I'm assuming the CPU is being throttled, RAM might not have enough power or the CPU core needs just a little more... will have to test when I have more time to be sure. Temperatures at 4.0Ghz are about 40c idle and 58c - 64c at load, heat doesn't seem to be a big issue.

I'm currently running at 3.6Ghz 1.4v 100% stable although I need to update the BIOS as the RAM is refusing to run faster than 667. The RAM is rated at 800 and has been set to 720 in the BIOS.

I've been running this machine at default clock speed for about a week and a half, thought I'd give it some burn time before overclocking.

I've attached some pictures for viewing, it's still quite messy in there until I get a decent PSU which could also help stability. :)

run Orthos for at least 8 hours before you consider it completely stable. i had the same thing with mine; it ran 3dmark, OCCT, and games just fine but crashed after an hour of Orthos.

What speed is your memory running at?

Memory is running at 667Mhz, until I update the BIOS. This thing has been 100% stable since yesterday. Although I will run Orthos tomorrow night just to be 110% sure.

Well after less than an hour of Orthos the CPU was stable and holding at 52c - 53c.. then the weakest part of my machine died.. the PSU. I should have known and I did when I got the beep.. beep sound and no power.

I'm now running temporarily on a branded 300w PSU. This should be just enough power for 2D only applications and stock speeds until I can get another PSU. Budget is going to have to be $50 or run in zombie mode for another few weeks.. :p

You are correct, I'm going to gather some cash and get a good PSU. Although I can't keep the system up on this 300w PSU I can't seriously play games on it. Although the Rosewill I got at newegg should hold me over for a few months and act as a decent spare just in case the lights go out again! :p
