when I installed a new 128 memory card in addition to my original 64 that came with my gateway computer, the computer picked up a lot of speed. However, it is not showing on control panel that the additional memory is there and I am getting warnings that my memory is low (from 64 card). Why isn't the memory card being read?

    welcome to the forums!

i'm assuming you're talking about ram, right? have you tried looking at cpu-z to see if the computer's really not seeing all 198mb of ram?

odds are, if it's not sensed, it may not be compatible with your computer because of some stringent ram requirements. i've seen that before on some retail computers. you can try returning it and getting another brand of ram to see if that works. good luck

hey Strogg - thx for the quick reply. I know barely enough about this to be totally dangerous and since I'm on disability right now, I can't afford to take my computer in to have it looked at, so again - thx. I ran the CPU-Z and it is seeing all 198 mb of ram, so why does it not show under "my computer" and why am I getting low memory warnings??? I really don't need a crash right now - too much info to lose. Am going to read in my 50 pound repair book :) but if you have a quicker answer for me, I'll luv ya forever!
