Can anyone help me. I have no sound.
I just had another motherboard installed. I had my computer built about 4 years ago. I think the old one was a Amtron..or something spelled like that. I had a mother board fan problem, alarm was going off. I took it to the computer place he replaced the fan on the motherboard. also formatting of operating system. got home with it, and alarm came on again. I shut down and restarted in 10 mins...no alarm. had it on all day. that night I had a black screen and computer had turned itself off. It would not come back on. Back to computer place. Next day he had installed a new motherboard/processor/fan. He did not say, but I think it must have been his fault...since I only paid Labor on this trip (69.99) He said I went from a Chevy to a Lincoln. anyway it is now a different type of motherboard.
But now I have no sound and did have sound with the other motherboard.
    can anyone tell me why?

I have cheap Walmart speakers...Labtec I don't remember getting any software with them, just plug and played.

thank you...below is some stuff I got from suggested Everest program...

Is the Windows Audio service running?
    Go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services
Scroll down the list of services until you find the Windows Audio service.
Right click on it and choose Properties.
Make sure it is set to Automatic and Start is checked

Check your BIOS to make sure on-board sound is enabled.
As the PC starts, press one of these keys (here is a list by manufacturer) http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/bios_manufacturer.htm
Or the right key will be posted on the very first screen. Tap it until you enter set-up, then look for your audio (it should be in Advanced or in Integrated Peripherals) Make sure sound is set correctly.

I'm assuming your repairman installed the chipset drivers, but maybe he forgot the audio, although the Realtek audio and mixer is showing in your report.
Here is your motherboard audio driver:
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=driverfile&dno=2344&i=0

EDIT: Check the simple things, too. Like, volume not muted and speakers plugged into the proper jack.

Thank you for the help. I did check and "Automatic and Start" are checked.

I'm alittle afraid of going in to the Bios..but will check out web link you added.

wondering if I need to reload the disk that came with my sound card since a motherboard was installed... :confused I don't know if it matters or not..but just trying to figure it out myself without messing anything up.

Store will be open tomorrow, will check with computer guy, I guess.

    thanks again.

Yes, give that a try. I didn't think to ask if you had a disc with the driver on it.

BIOS is probably ok and is fairly safe to edit as long as you make double sure of the entry you are changing, but if your driver doesn't install, take a look at it.
