Hey Geeks, looking for some advice on MOBOs. I am going to give myself just under $150.00 for a new MOBO. I am partial to Asus and Gigabyte but it has been three years since I upgraded this PC. I want a board that supports up to or over 3 Ghz Pentium Processors. (I want a Pentium 4) and support for hyperthreading, 533 or over bus, 8X AGP (but still can support some 4X cards), Gig LAN, Middle of the Road Audio, and Maybe SATA. I was partial to Rambus RAM. But will entertain going with DDR (333 or over). I know there are numerous options these days. But I am just looking for some expert advice from you experts since it has been a while since I purchased a board.

Well, for one, RAMBUS has pretty much gone by the way side. I don't think they even make mobos with support for it anymore. And, for $150 you should be able to get all of that and more. Here are the specs you should look for.

    800Mhz front side bus
8x AGP - They all will also support 4x
    Gigabit LAN
    SATA RAID
DDR 400 Dual Channel RAM support

Something like an Asus P4C800 Deluxe or Abit IC7-G Max3 should do well. They are both top of the line and should be around $150.

dont think any mobo supports really cpu beyond 3/3.2 ghz officially but alot of mobos come with the claim they support "1200mhz" fsb...
