new network project

i am doing a school project i need to ask some questions
we are to wire a new building with cabling and charge for labor like it would be real life

now i am kinda lost on somethings on what to choose

1. which cable should i use and i need to justify it i was thinking cat6e for cost and future proofing. (getting faster stuff
2. what the avg cost for labor and installs are going for?

the project is 3 floors with servers and everything.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cat-5e will work for Gig. Unless they are talking 10gb or better for short haul, Cat-6 is overkill. As for three floors, each floor should have a set of switches, with a backhaul to the first floor, whether it is Fiber or Cat-6 for that one run of min. 4 cat 6 for redundancy for the backhaul, same with Fiber.

Servers dependent on what the floors are doing. Each department should have their own router, server, switches, patch panel. As for getting to the outside world, that is a whole another story.

engineeing with 10 comps

all on star topology with a switch in each room
1 printer in each room

HR room with 5 comps
marketing with 5 comps
management room with 10 comps
1 printer in each room

now i am only 2nd qtr student and im not sure if i did any of this right

Stating that the network is in Star topology, is showing that this is a project. No one uses that terminology anymore. Have fun finishing your school project on your own. To give you a little insight, regardless how many depts are on a floor, they will come off of one main server bank, and one bank of switches.

 

i already stated that and i am lost as to do it as but at the same time i cant find
average labor costs.
thats why i posted it on here.
i have a visio diagram made up of what i have already that i turned in but i doubt i did it right im just trying to get as close as i can to correct.
