I installed thew new NVIDIA 52.16 drivers. Supposedly they support all cards. I have a GForce 4 TI 4600 128 MB. At first I thought nothing was wrong. I been playing some games and have notived I can't change the res in any games to over 1024x768 without a crash. GTA III won't even load. As soon as I try to load, crashes to desktop. I have removed the 52.16 and went back to 45.23, no problems. Everything runs great... I don't recommend these new drivers unless you have a FX card.. who else had problems?

My 4400Ti worked or did not work the same way. Back to the 45.23 and all is well.
This will be my last attempt at new nVidia drivers until they get their act together. I sure appreciate this thread and look forward to more like it so I can tell when nVidia makes a good driver for the older cards.

You know... I've wondered this quite a few times, but never thought to ask anyone. When you go through the process of installing drivers for your video card, I've been told that DirectX needs to be installed before you install the video card drivers... now... since there isn't a way to uninstall the latest DirectX (with exceptions of removal programs) then when you download the latest drivers for your video card and install them, then technically, according to the DirectX instructions (or whatever) shouldn't that cause problems?

I'm not sure if I'm being very clear on this, but basically in simpler terms what I'm trying to say is... you have to install DirectX before you install video card drivers, so any updates to your video card drivers would cause problems upon install... right?

I've heard that before too. I've never actually done it so I really don't know what kind of problems it might help you to avoid. Sounds a bit much to me.

There are programs to remove DirectX, but it's not just a few clicks involved. :( I believe it's just bad drivers that cause most of the problems.

I've been having annoying shutdown problems for the last few weeks....since getting a new GeForce4 MX 440 card and installing the latest drivers.

I've been trying to work out what was causing it for ages (theres even a thread about it in one of the other forums here)

anyone know where you can get older drivers that actually work with the GeForce4 MX 440 128Mb card??

you can get these from the nvidia driver page. Look at the left side of th page and you will see a link to driver archive and when you go there, you will find a list a the last few driver releases.

I doubt the new drivers really benefit the older cards. One of the biggest fixes in the 52.16's was to change the way the card processed pixel shader input....sped up the cards alot.
It also fixed image quality issues with the FX line. Not sure if the older cards were affected, though.

hi there were a lot of problems with the new 52.16 drivers since then there is 52.70s which were better but im now using the 53.03s not yet certified but they are the best set of drivers ive ever used for my ASUS GEFORCE 4 TI4200
the eye candy on these are brilliant and they seem rock solid
have also put them on my sons GEFORCE 4 MX440 and they are running sweet
and trust me ive tried every set of drivers i could find including custom, betas etc etc and these rock heres the link if anyones interested

52.16's give me no problems i think......but do the 53.03's fix the trilinear filtering problem, and still give good performance?

I just checked nVidia and can't seem to find the 52.70 or 53.03's -where can I get them? All I can see are the 52.16's. What am I overlooking?

I've been having nothig but problems.

I play Warcraft 3 and everythign used to be fine until i was forced to format and then when I reinstalled the driver and direct x 9 which it was supposed to support I've had nothing but problems of laggy choppy graphics during online play which is causing unbearable lag and making it unplayable. I've also been suffering from the system locking up completley.

I have a Geforce 4 MX440. Can anyone advise me what I can do to get it back to how it was?

    :D hi roco1975,
first of all try these links i find them really useful for archieved graphics or just good software if you got 3dprobs.
you might find with caution i may add back up you software?.
that either your card bios chip (the one on your graphics card) is not quite up-to-date so check the maker of your card and see if you can get a bios update.
msi cards use live update will solve that problem if its msi.
others check out your makers site.
if not try this link first for archieved drivers xp is your operating i assume.

try all the links below roco1975 for help.
