New PC + no oldstyle joystick port = trouble

Hi,
Got a new pc without one of those old style joystick ports that were on the soundcards in the past. (like 10 years ago)
I need that port.
Tried installing 2 old soundcards with those ports (SB Live CT4830 & Sonic Vibes q9c3fb, not at the same time mind you) in my new pc but couldn't find drivers for the first (SonicVibes; this is from the pentium 2 era so no wonder) and my pc wouldn't install drivers for my sb-live (pentium 3 era, newest drivers are from 2003) as it claimed the card didnt exist in my pc.
Yet the so-called audio-device and PCI Input Device (my precious gameport) are both listed in the device manager.
However there are no drivers for Windows 7 for either of these cards so it was a longshot but I hoped the gameport would work even if the drivers weren't too compatible.

Does an independent driver for these joystick ports exist?
Any other workarounds?
I don't really need/want to install the soundcard, I just need the gameport on it.

I learned that there are gameport to usb adapters but I can't find them anywhere, I guess they are not for sale anylonger?

Do I have any other options than to simply buy a new joystick?

but i would just consider getting a new usb joystick. i used to use an old serial port gamepad, and switched to a newer usb one. It was much better.
