    Hi

Hoping someone can help. I have a week old pc and am trying to get over teething problems. Although I did pick up and remove two trojans, on scanning with three different programs they seem to be gone. It may be registry/startup process problem rather than more malware so I thought I'd start here first.

    1. Had a Creative Soundcard installed but couldn't get the microphone working properly so took it back the next day and had them remove it. I had to uninstall the software myself and although I did followed by c cleaner, there still seems to be a process running in msconfig. I dont know how to properly remove this. There was also another application that came up suspicious in one of the scans that was also connected to Creative which I have since deleted. I just want to make sure everything is removed related to this as I no longer have it installed.

    2. Windows Media Player - kept randomly opening, when closed would open again. This may be linked to Razer Lycosa Keyboard (another problem I am still working on). Pop ups have stopped, but there is still a process running without WMP being loaded and 3 others that are flashing on and off within the processes list. I dont know what they are for, not sure if they are slowing down my system, to be honest I would prefer just to delete WMP. I cannot find it in Programs - Uninstall, or Show windows updates, or through C Cleaner remove programs.

    3. Lastly, just installed my web cam. A logitech which also seems to have added an auto startup. Can't see where to change this either, only to tun off automatic updates.

Please help, I'm ready to throw this out the window!

    Thank you for replying plodr.

On the site with the screenshot, it mentions that Vista has a capable startup manager. When i try to use this it wants to turn on Windows defender. Not sure if this is a firewall or anti virus but I am using different programs. I could also use the startup tool within C Cleaner. This can solve 3. logitech webcam, no problem.

The last file in the c cleaner startup (P17RunE) relates to 1. the creative soundcard. Although I can turn it off, I still would rather remove this and any other stray file related to it as I know longer have it installed. It's a brand new system and I'm just trying to not clog it up with crap already :)

Problem - Windows Media Player is nowhere to be seen. Is it ok to delete the folder within Program Files and run c cleaner to get rid of any leftovers, another 3rd party removal program, or is there somewhere else I can check to see why it is starting?

    Thank you for your help
